Metropolitan University celebrated the 101st Birth Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children?s Day on 17th March 2021.
On the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Metropolitan University arranged several programmes which included hoisting of the national flag at sunrise in the campus, laying of floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu, a discussion meeting and cutting a cake in utmost tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The speakers during the discussion paid deep homage to the Father of the Nation and said, "Bangladesh is synonymous with Bangabandhu. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the real hero and the reason behind the birth of our beloved independent nation. It is our solemn responsibility to fulfill the dreams that Bangabandhu once had dreamt about our country to make it ?Sonar Bangla?."
They also said, "The books 'Asamapta Atmajibani', 'Karagarer Rojnamcha' and 'Amar Dekha Noyachin' have thrown some light on his childhood, youth and political career. Through education, we can make our children know more about Bangabandhu and adopt the quality and thought processes to transform our country into Sonar Bangla. We have to build ourselves and teach others as the person who can be the resemblance of Bangabandhu for true leadership."
The Chairman Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury and Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Saleh Uddin PhD joined the discussion meeting virtually.
The discussion meeting was presided over by the Dean of the School of Business & Economics Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa.?The Dean of the School of Science & Technology, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury was the chief discussant in the meeting.? Mr. Gazi Saiful Hasan, Head of the Dept. of? Law and Justice;? Mr. Anik Biswas, Head of the Dept. of? English and Deputy Registrar,? Mr. Mihir Kanti Choudhury also spoke on the occasion. Deputy Director (Public Relations), Ms. Sumana Aziz anchored the discussion meeting.
Heads of Departments, teachers, officers and employees were present in the meeting in compliance with the rules of hygiene and social distancing.
