Metropolitan University has taken the initiative of organising a College Cricket Tournament for the second time. Metropolitan University Sports Club will arrange the tournament which will start on 14th March 2022 to be participated by 16 colleges of Sylhet.
On this occasion, a press conference was held at 3 pm on Tuesday in Professor M. Habibur Rahman Library Hall.
Mr. Rajin Saleh, Former Captain & Present Fielding Coach of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team and Deputy Director (Sports) of Metropolitan University shared details of the college cricket tournament at the press conference.
Mr. Tarek Islam, Director (Administration) of the University said, "College Cricket Tournament was organized in 2019 by the initiative of Metropolitan University for the first time. Subsequently, due to the corona virus situation, it was not possible to organize this tournament on a large scale. Currently, the tournament is being held again as the Covid-19 restrictions are within tolerable limits."
16 teams will be divided into 4 groups and the top 2 teams from each group will play in the quarter final. The champion team will receive a trophy and cash prize of Tk 25,000 and the runners-up team will receive a trophy and cash prize of Tk 15,000. There will also be awards for Man of the Match, Man of the Series, highest wicket taker, and highest run scorer.
Representatives from the Sponsors, Mahmud Hossain, Assistant Manager (Business Development, TCL Global) and Md. Nuruzzaman, (Assistant Bangladesh Regional Adviser, University of Portsmouth, UK) were present on the occasion.
