The Farewell Programme for the outgoing students of Autumn 2018 and Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students in Spring 2019 was held in Metropolitan University Permanent Campus on Saturday, 9th February 2019.

The programme was presided over by the Chairman of Metropolitan University Board of Trustees Dr.Toufique Rahman Chowdhury while Former Education Minister Mr.Nurul Islam Nahid MP was present on that occasion as the Chief Guest.

Besides, The Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and Member of Parliament (Sylhet-5) Mr. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder; Assistant Personal Secretary of the Prime Minister & Member of Parliament, Mr.Saifuzzaman Shikhor (Magura-1); GOC of 17^th?Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army & Sylhet Area Commander Major General ShameemUz Zaman bsp, ndc, psc, and former member of Parliament, Syeda Jebunnesa Hoque also attended the programme as special guests.

The Honourable Chief Guest Mr.Nurul Islam Nahid MP said in his speech,? Metropolitan University is one of our favourite educational institutions. The University has created new possibilities. It has to be taken forward. Being one of Sylhet, I am proud to see people are coming forward to spread education.?

?Our nation was abducted by killing Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman. Bangladesh is now going forward again under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Now Bangladesh has set an example in the world? he also added.

Mr.Nurul Islam Nahid (M.P) congratulated to the Chairman of Metropolitan University Board of Trustees Dr.ToufiqueRahmanChowdhury for his excellent & continuous contribution for spreading the light of education.

The Chairman Board of Trustees Dr.Toufique Rahman Chowdhury said, ?Those who have stepped into the University life have to be good humans acquiring knowledge because they are the future of Bangladesh. Those who are leaving the University will also be with us in various ways.?

During the programme, the Career Centre of the University was inaugurated by the guests.

Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury said about the centre, ?We are trying to make our students established in their life. The career centre has been developed for this purpose. Through this centre, the students passed from the University will get a job, internship facility and scholarship for higher education at home and abroad.?

Mr. Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder MP said, ?Bangladesh is now the wonder of the world. The world is astonished, seeing the development of our country. It has been possible due to the right leadership.?

Member of the Parliament Mr. Saifuzzaman Shikhor said, ?We gave our students, our kids the opportunity to dream. The government has made a smooth road from their side. Now they have the responsibility to move forward.?

Major General Shameem Uz Zaman welcomed the new students in his speech and greeted the outgoing students. Later on, he presented a memorandum to the Metropolitan University on behalf of 17^th?Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army.

The Dean of the Schools, Heads and Faculty members of the department, and officials were present in the programme.

Meanwhile, there was a lottery among the students admitted in the Spring Term 2019 and three smart phones were given to them. The three students are Mahfuza Sarwar, Fahima Akhter and Sajjadul Islam.

There was a cultural programme at the end of the programme.
