Metropolitan University observed national genocide day 2019 on 25th March with due respect paid to the martyrs. On the occasion, a discussion meeting was arranged in Professor M. Habibur Rahman Library Hall at 11am.

The meeting was presided over by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shiba Prasad Sen.

Veteran freedom fighter and Vice President of Sylhet District Awami League, Mr. Masuk Uddin Ahmed was the chief guest. The Chairman Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury was the special guest in the programme.

The Convener of the Independence and National Day Celebration Committee and Dean of the School of Business and Economics, Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa delivered the welcome speech.

Thed of the meeting said, ?Pakistani army cowardly attacked on the Bengalees on that night of 1971. Pakistan's barbarity during the liberation war is a terrible black chapter in the history of world humanity.?

They also said, ?The horrific genocide has not yet been recognized internationally. Bangladesh must enhance diplomatic efforts to achieve international recognition of the genocide of 1971 war.?
