MU Law Night and Inaugural Ceremony of MU Law Clinic was held by the initiative of MU Law Clinic, Department of Law & Justice. Metropolitan University Law Alumni Association (MULAA) also collaborated in arranging the Programme.
Honourable Justice Mr. Md. Badruzzaman, High Court Division, Bangladesh Supreme Court was present in the ceremony as Chief Guest. He said in his speech, ?Law is an artistic profession. It has some artistry. Those who can possess this artistry become good lawyers. Those who understand twords which will be accepted by court will succeed in this profession.?
He also added, ?The government has taken initiative to establish Law University. Through this, professional lawyers will be available on various fields of law. The 'Law Clinic' has recently been introduced in the law department of universities will also smoothen the way for students to become lawyers.?
The Dean of the School of Law, Professor Dr. M. Rabiul Hossain attended the ceremony as special guest. Dr. M. Rabiul Hossain said, ?The rule contained in the Bar Council is a barrier to the education of the law. Some policies are needed to educate the nation. I think the Bar Council's rules are contrary to education policy. The students even had to file a case to take part in the Bar Council examination.?
As well as the Deputy Attorney General, Jannatul Ferdoushi Rupa highlighted the need and importance of 'Law Clinic' addressing as special guest. She said, ?The main aim of the law is to explore the truth from the darkness. Law professionals therefore have the ability to create a society without discrimination by finding out the truth from the darkness. I believe the Law Clinic will play that role.?
The programme was presided over by the Head of the Department of Law & Justice, Assistant Professor Gazi Saiful Hasan. Barrister Md. Arash Ali, Assistant Professor Sheikh Ashrafur Rahaman also spoke at the ceremony.
Besides, Israt Jahan, a Judicial Magistrate, Sunamganj Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and alumni of the University; Assistant Proctor Adv. Abbas Uddin; the convener of MULAA and Senior Lecturer of the Department, Fatema Imrose; Member Secretary Adv. Shahadat Ali Saki and President, MU Law Clinic Mahbub Alam also attended the ceremony.
The guests revealed a memorial book ?Ain Darpan? on the occasion.
