Metropolitan University celebrated Victory Day 2022
Metropolitan University celebrated the 52nd Victory Day, paying deep homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country during the Liberation War. On December 16 in 1971, Bangladesh was born as an independent country under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the cost of supreme sacrifices of three million people and the honour of nearly two hundred thousand women. At 9 in the morning, the national flag and the University flag were hoisted by Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahirul Hoque and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Shiba Prasad Sen respectively. Thereafter, a floral wreath was laid on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the university premises at 9.15 am. Later on, a discussion meeting was held at 9:30 am at Professor M. Habibur Rahman Library Hall. The discussion Meeting was presided over by the Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences and Treasurer of the University, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak and anchored by the Registrar of the University, Mr. Tarek Islam. The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahirul Hoque attended the programme as chief guest while Pro Vice Chancellor was the special guest. During the speech, the Vice Chancellor said, ?Our freedom is a wonder in the world. People participated in the liberation war regardless of caste, religion, profession, social status. The state will be built based on society, culture, tradition. Finally, Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman gave us our desired state. As a rare event in the history of the world, Bangabandhu, came of a middle class family, awakened the whole country and inspired the freedom loving people of the world. The current economic challenges are faced not only by Bangladesh, but also by the whole world. There are more challenges ahead. These have to be dealt with by working for the overall welfare of the country and the nation along with the education system with the spirit of victory.? Chairman of the discussion meeting Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan said, ?The road to victory was never smooth. The British and the Pakistani colonial powers always hindered us. The history of sacrifice began to distort with the departure of the father of the nation. The anti-independent forces took revenge by killing Bangabandhu. The proper history of the liberation war should be known.? Besides, The Dean of the School of Science Technology, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury; Associate Professor & Dean In-Charge of the Dean of the School of Law Sheikh Ashrafur Rahaman; Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Business Administration Md. Masud Rana; Assistant Professor & Head of the Department of English Anik Biswas and Deputy Registrar of the University Mr. Mihir Kanti Choudhury also spoke on the occasion. Heads of the Departments, teachers and officials were among those who were present in the discussion.
