Metropolitan University Observed National Mourning Day 2019
Metropolitan University observed the National Mourning Day marking the 44th?anniversary of the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. A discussion meeting was held on 20th?August 2019 in Prof. Habibur Rahman Library Hall.? Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shiba Prasad Sen presided over the discussion meeting while the Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury was the Chief Guest. Treasurer and Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak; Dean of the School of Science and Technology, Professor Dr. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury?and the Controller of Exams, Professor Nandalal Sharma took part in the discussion. Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury said, ?Bangla, Bengali and Bangabandhu are same.?Bangabandhu is not only the best Bengali of a thousand years, he is also the best personality in Bengali history. If Bangabandhu was not born, the Bengali nation would have been recorded only on the pages of history.? He also said, ?The killers of Bangabanghu must be punished along with the people those who seek to abolish the ideology of Bangabanghu.? Speakers in the meeting said the biggest misfortune was that Bangabandhu lost his life in the hands of the people of his country. Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Tanwir M O Rahman Chowdhury;? Heads of Departments, faculty members, officials and students attended the programme.
