A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between BDApps, the largest apps store of Bangladesh owned by Robi Axiata Ltd. and Metropolitan University on 31 January 2023. The General Manager of Robi Aziata Ltd. Mr. Saleh Ahmed and the Registrar of Metropolitan University Mr. Tarek Islam signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. From now on, Software developers of the University will be able to join the country's largest developer platform. It will allow programmers to monetize their mobile and web apps or develop their technical ideas.
Hon?ble Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahirul Hoque attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. He said, ?Metropolitan University will play a vital role in turning the students into skilled manpower and also help them to be successful entrepreneurs. IT sector in Bangladesh is developing day by day along with the world. Alongside studying in University, a student can also establish himself as an entrepreneur and be financially benefited from the IT sector. In this regard, the founder and Chairman of Metropolitan University, prominent entrepreneur Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury and the Vice Chairman Tanwir M.O. Rahman Chowdhury are very sincere in this regard. We want to establish Metropolitan University as an extraordinary University. Two more computer labs and one innovation lab are being set up. These labs will play an important role in developing different types of apps and software.?
The Treasurer of the University and Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak presided over the signing ceremony. Dean of the School of Business & Economics, Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa; Dean of the School of Science & Technology, Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury; Acting Dean of the School of Law, Associate Professor, Sheikh Ashrafur Rahaman; Additional Director of Metropolitan University IQAC, Professor Choudhury M. Mukammel Wahid also spoke on the occasion. Heads of Departments, Registrar and other officials were present on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that Metropolitan University is the first University in Sylhet with whom BD Apps has signed such a Memorandum of Understanding.
