MU Lit Exhibit 2025

The Metropolitan University Literary Club of English began the MU Lit Exhibit 2025 with a vibrant and welcoming ceremony celebrating books, ideas, and cultural harmony. The event was hosted confidently by Qazi Tashfia Monzur Ishika (Batch 58) and Aysha Akhtar Nijum (Batch 56). Inspired by Shakespeare’s famous line “We are such stuff as dreams are made on,” the exhibit carried a spirit of imagination, creativity, and love for language throughout the day.

The exhibit aimed to honor student creativity, promote literary expression, and strengthen the link between culture and academics. It featured dramatic scenes, creative installations, and literary research displays, bringing together students, teachers, alumni, and guests in one inspiring space.

The program was made possible with generous support from various partners. AMEX Associates served as the Title Sponsor; IELTS for Womenfolk as Powered By Partner; Reverie as Co-Powered By Partner; and Skin’O as Gift Sponsor. ShrutiBinti and Truenotes joined as Co-Sponsors, while alumnus Enamul Haque Polash (Batch 29) contributed as Supporting Sponsor. Batighor worked as Special Collaborator, helping the event reach its full potential.

The formal opening included a cake-cutting ceremony, attended by university authorities, club members, and guests. Afterwards, visitors enjoyed a guided tour of the exhibit, led by the club’s President, Vice President, Senior Vice President, and Treasurer, who introduced each section and explained its theme.

The ceremony was graced by respected university leaders including Md. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury, Anik Biswas, Professor Sheikh Ashrafur Rahaman, Dr. Mohammad Jamal Uddin, Prof. Dr. Tofayel Ahmed, Mr. Md Mahfujul Hasan, Mr. Fuad Ahmed, Mr. Md Gulam Mokta Dhir, Mr. Safwan Uddin Ahmed, and Sanjida Chowdhury, among others. Their presence added great honor and encouragement to the occasion.

Club leaders Syeda Nazifa (Vice President), Dewan Maria Chowdhury (Senior Vice President), and Lecturer Noshin Tabassum (Treasurer) shared short but inspiring remarks about the club’s vision, teamwork, and preparation. Head of the Department of English, Sanjida Chowdhury, then spoke about how literature helps young minds grow, builds empathy, and connects learning with life.

Special guest A K Sheram, an acclaimed poet and researcher, highlighted the deep bond between Bangla and Manipuri literature, showing how both traditions reflect and enrich one another. The program was further honored by the presence of Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Trustees, and Mr. Shohidur Rahman Chy, Member of the Board of Trustees.

The cultural segment featured dramatic scenes from world and Bangla literature. Students performed excerpts from Oedipus Rex and Romeo and Juliet, followed by Bangla and regional performances including Feluda, Monpura, Porinita, and Cokher Bali. Two Bangla poems and one Manipuri poem were recited, celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity.

Behind the scenes, volunteers played a vital role in stage management, decoration, logistics, and coordination with Batighor for book stalls. Their tireless efforts ensured the day ran smoothly and successfully.

In conclusion, the MU Lit Exhibit 2025 stood as a wonderful example of how literature can unite a university community. It blended creativity with learning, performance with research, and local culture with global thought. The event opened not just an exhibit — but a doorway to imagination, reminding everyone that dreams, stories, and languages truly belong together.
