Science Olympiad-2018 divisional level competition organised on the initiative of Bangladesh Science Academy & MU CSE Society and sponsored by First Security Islami Bank Ltd. was held on January 12, 2018 at Metropolitan University, Sylhet. A total of 280 students from various schools and colleges in Sylhet division took part in the competition. The main goal of organising the Science Olympiad-2018 is to motivate young students to become science-minded and study science and development of science education in the country. The Dean of School of Science & Technology Metropolitan University Professor Dr. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury presided over the programme. Professor of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology Dr. Syed Badiuzzaman Faruque, Prof. Azizur Rahman Laskar, Dr. Ashraful Alam, Prof. Basit Ibne Habib and the Head of the Sylhet region First Security Islami Bank Kazi Muthahir Hussain attended the programme. As well as Senior Vice President of the MU CSE Society Mohammad Abid Kaiser, General Secretary Shahriar Taki Afindi all the member of MU CSE Society attended the programme. Among the participants of the Olympiad, first 10 students from SSC group and first 10 students from HSC group total 20 students were selected for the national level competition. Lecturer of the Department of CSE and treasurer of MU CSE Society Mr. Amit Kumar Chakraborty conducted the program and Assistant Professor of the dept. of CSE Md. Fuad Ahmad served as the coordinator of the Science Olympiad-2018.
