Grameenphone and Wikipedia launch a campaign in Metropolitan University to enrich Bangla content in Wikipedia. The purpose of this campaign is to build awareness on Wikipedia as a knowledge hub and Bangla language as an internet driver among mass in seven regions that includes Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Sylhet, Rangpur, Barisal. A training programme is conducted in Metropolitan University during the campaign on how to create content for Bangla Wikipedia. The campaign was separated in several parts. At first 40 students were registered for progamme then an opening speech was delivered by The Dean of the School of Science & Technology of Metropolitan University Mr. Md Mukammel Wahid. Later on Speakers from Grameen Phone and Wikipedia delivers an introductory speech regarding the event. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Metropolitan University Dr. Md Saleh Uddin was also present in the Programme along with Dr. Md Zafar Iqbal Head of the department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Shahjalal University of Science & Technology and both of them delivers valued speech during the event. The entire contributors were given certificates and gifts sponsored by Grameen Phone and Wikipedia and best three were specially awarded. The campaign will take place from Nov 27 to Dec 15 in seven divisional cities and end in Feb next year. Wikipedia is the largest free online encyclopedia in the world. The Bangla Wikipedia is one of 287 language versions, each maintained by a community of volunteers.
