Metropolitan University, the leading private University in Sylhet, has completed 16 years in the journey of Educational excellence. University family cheerily celebrated the day of establishment on 3rd May 2019. The Chairman Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Shiba Prasad Sen; Dean of the School of Business & Economics, Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa; Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Science, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak, Dean of the School of Science, Professor Dr. Nazrul Hoque Chowdhury; Head of the Department of Economics, Professor Dr. SM Ali Akkas; Head of the Department of Physics Dr. ASM Iftekhar Uddin; Registrar, Muhammad FR Tanvir; Additional Director of IQAC Professor Choudhury M. Mukammel Wahid; Director (Admin), Tarek Islam, Deputy Registrar, Mihir Kanti Choudhury; Assistant Proctor, Adv. Abbas Uddin; Deputy Exam Controller, Khandakar Moksud Ahmed and all other University officials attended the celebration programme. Deputy RegistrarAdv, Lukman Ahmed Chowdhury greeted the Chairman Board of Trustees on behalf of all University staff and officials. The University started its journey in May 2003 with the motto, 'Enter to Lead'. There are currently six departments under four schools. 16 Graduate & Undergraduate programmes are available under the departments. Besides, the Institute of Business and Information Technology (IBIT) is also open. The University is approved by Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh and University Grants Commission. It is also affiliated with the Access to Information (A2I) Program of the Prime Minister's Office, Institute of Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Currently, more than five thousand students are studying in the University.
