Metropolitan University, Sylhet observed International Mother Language Day and Martyrs? Day 2021 with great enthusiasm and respect. ?Metropolitan University authority placed wreaths at Kendriya Shahid Minar in the morning to pay tributes to those who made supreme sacrifices on February 21 in 1952 to establish their mother tongue as the state language. ?Later, a discussion meeting was held on the significance of the day at Professor M Habibur Rahman Library Hall.
The Chairman Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, Vice Chairman Tanwir MO Rahman Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Saleh Uddin joined the discussion meeting virtually. The Discussion meeting was presided over by?the Dean of the School of Business & Economics Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa and hosted by Deputy Director (Public Relation) Ms. Sumona Aziz.
The main discussant at the meeting was the Dean of the School of Science and Technology Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury. Assistant Professor Gazi Saiful Hasan and Deputy Registrar Mihir Kanti Choudhury also took part in the discussion.
Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Haque Chowdhury says, ?The language is evolving. But we have to be careful not to change the way you use it. It is important to pay attention to the good practice of language everywhere.?
Assistant Professor Md Sher-E-Alam recited ?Smr?tistambha? the famous poem of Alauddin Azad in the programme.
At the end of the programme Imam Hafez Mohammad Ismail Hossain prayed for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs in the language movement.
