Metropolitan University Model United Nations 2020
Three-Day long Model United Nations' Assembly was held at Metropolitan University starting on 23rd January 2020 organised by Metropolitan University Model United Nations (MUMUNA). The ending ceremony was held on Saturday afternoon at Professor M Habibur Rahman Library Hall at the permanent campus of the University at Bateshwar. Professor Choudhury M. Mukamel Wahid, Advisor (Student Welfare) of the University was the chief guest at the ending ceremony while Deputy Registrar, Mr. Lukman Ahmed Chowdhury; Assistant Professor Md. Ziaur Rahman Titu; President, Dhaka University Model United Nations Mr. Majedur Rahman Majed and Mr Anisul Haque from Sponsor Organisation (Firoz Motors) was the Special Guests of the ceremony. Hundreds of delegates participated in this programme from various educational institutions including Dhaka University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet Agricultural University, with the theme "Promoting Social through Equitable Probation and Distribution of Rights, Resources and Amenities" The Delegates discussed the conference in five different committees Security Council, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), UN Women and International Press (IP). Participants were awarded by certificate at the closing ceremony of the programme. USA was awarded as the best delegates to the UNDP Committee, Germany as Outstanding Delegate, Denmark as Special Mention and India with Best Position Paper. Best Correspondent on International Press (IP) was CNN, Outstanding Correspondent is Reuters. Bangladesh was awarded as the best delegates to the UN Women, Switzerland as Outstanding Delegate, Australia as Special Mention and Canada with Best Position Paper. Turkey was awarded as the best delegates to the UNHCR, Palestine as Outstanding Delegate, France as Special Mention-1 and Australia as Special Mention-2. Belgium was awarded as the best delegates to the UN Security Council, France as Outstanding Delegate, Tunisia as Special Mention-1 and Germany as Special Mention-2.
