A discussion meeting as well as film and poster exhibition was held in Metropolitan University, observing International Women?s Day at 11 am on 10th March Saturday.
Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee of Metropolitan University arranged the programme. Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shiba Prasad Sen presided over the discussion meeting while Chairman, Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury was the Chief Guest. The Convenor of the Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee and Assistant Professor of the Department of English, Mrs. Rama Islam delivered the welcome speech. Director of Primary Education Programme Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB), Mrs. Shirin Akther and Coordinator of Health Programme, Shimantik , Ms. Rowshan Ara Parvin attended the Programme as special guests.
Speakers in the discussion said, ?We have to be aware of sexual abuse and take lesson of equality from our family. Family is the place of stopping repression. If the students are aware of it in their personal life and make surrounding people aware of it, there will be no sexual abuse in the society.?
The Deans, Heads of the Departments, officers, teachers and students of different departments of the University were present in the programme.
