A seminar titled 'Global Financial Crisis and Bangladesh Economy' was held at Metropolitan University on Saturday, 1st?December 2018 in Professor M. Habibur Rahman Library Hall at the initiative of the Department of Economics.
Chief Guest of the seminar Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, Chairman Board of Trustees said, ?Politics and economics are tied with the same thread. Politics affects almost everything of the economy.?
He also added, ?The growth of Bangladeshi economy is really well. The country has also overcome terrible natural disasters like Sidr. If any financial crisis arises, Bangladesh can overcome it as well. The current government is patriotic and it needs to be continued for economic stability.?
The Dean of the School of Business & Economics Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa presided over the seminar and Head of the Department of Economics Professor Dr. S.M. Ali Akkas was the keynote speaker.The keynote speaker says, ?Political stability or instability affects the economy. A speech or a decision of a president of a world-influencing country can collapse any country's economy.?
Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shiba Prasad Sen, Professor Emeritus, Md. Abdul Aziz, Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences and Principal of the British International English School, Mr. Jahangir Ahmed Chowdhury attended the seminar as special guests.
The seminar was anchored by Mr. Ehsanur Rauf Prince, Lecturer of the department of Economics.
