Professor Sheikh Ashrafur Rahaman is an esteemed academic, legal scholar, and the current Dean of the School of Law at Metropolitan University (MU), Sylhet. Since joining the university on May 14, 2006, Professor Rahaman has built a distinguished career of active teaching, mentoring, and administrative leadership, serving as a foundational pillar in shaping the legal education landscape. Prior to his elevation to the role of the Dean, he served with distinction as the long standing Head of the Department of Law and Justice at Metropolitan University. 

Professor Rahaman’s strong academic foundation stems from Rajshahi University, one of Bangladesh’s premier institutions, where he completed both his LL.B. (Honours) and LL.M. degrees. Driven by an unwavering passion for continuous learning and intellectual growth, he is currently pursuing advanced higher education and specialized research to further contribute to contemporary legal discourse.

A dedicated researcher at heart, Professor Rahaman has made significant contributions to legal scholarship, with a research portfolio that encompasses critical legal issues such as Personal Laws, Criminal Laws, Human Rights and Environmental Justice. He has authored a substantial number of notable research articles published in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals. Beyond his published works, he is an active voice in the academic community, frequently participating in, organizing, and chairing national and international law seminars and conferences. 

Furthermore, he regularly serves as a dedicated research supervisor, mentoring junior faculty members and guiding undergraduate and postgraduate students in their dissertations. Through his dual commitment to teaching excellence and rigorous legal research, Professor Sheikh Ashrafur Rahaman continues to elevate the academic standards of the School of Law at Metropolitan University, inspiring both his peers and the next generation of legal professionals.
