Metropolitan University has celebrated Victory Day 2021 and the golden jubilee of independence with colorful arrangements. The two-day long Victory Festival was arranged on the occasion including illumination of buildings, placing wreaths at the monument, discussion, sports competitions, victory fair and cultural programmes.
On the occasion of Victory Day and the Golden Jubilee of Independence, the University was colorfully decorated and the buildings were illuminated. Early in the morning a floral wreath was offered as homage to martyrs who sacrificed their lives for a free nation. Later on, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Shiba Prasad Sen inaugurated the day-long cultural programme and Bijay Mela. Each department separately participated in the cultural events. There were plays, songs, poem recitations, short plays etc based on the Liberation War. Besides, in the Victory Fair teachers and students from each department participated with their stalls.
During the sports event, Professors of the University participated in the penalty shootout. Other sports competitions like Futsal, Cricket, Badminton, Chess, Haribhanga etc were held.
There was a glorious prize giving ceremony at the end of the cultural programme. Convener of the Victory Day celebration committee and Dean of the School of Business and Economics. Professor Dr. Taher Billal Khalifa presided over the programmes. The Department of English and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering jointly achieved the first position. While the Department of Law and Justice and the Department of Business Administration jointly stood second and the Department of Economics was in third position at the cultural event. Apart from this, prizes were also given to the best stalls among the participants in Victory Fair.The Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury and the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Md. Saleh Uddin congratulated the winners.
