Metropolitan University has productively passed 19 successful years of its establishment on Tuesday, 3^rd?May 2022. The University was established on 3^rd?May 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of Education. Due to the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, there was no formal programme arranged on that day.

By the well planned leadership of the Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury and the Vice Chairman Mr. Tanwir MO Rahman Chowdhury, the University is continuously earning reputation for its dedicated efforts by the teachers and officials. The Metropolitan University has all the necessary facilities such as advanced labs, a rich library, educational clubs, and extracurricular activities in the campus for providing quality education to the students. Eminent academician, Professor Dr. Md. Saleh Uddin is serving as the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Meanwhile, on the occasion the Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury has congratulated the teachers, students, officers, employees, well-wishers of the University. In a message, he said, "We started our journey with the dream of playing a positive role in the education system of Sylhet. We paid special attention to improve the quality of education. In a period of about two decades, Metropolitan University is one of the names of confidence, trust and love of the students of Greater Sylhet."
