Metropolitan University, Sylhet observed the Independence Day and National Day with so many splendid events. The University campus is magnificently decorated to observe the significant day. Early hours at 12:01am Metropolitan University placed floral wreath at Kendriya Shaheed Minar, Sylhet. In the morning at 10:00 am a discussion meeting is held on the significance of the day. Later on a wonderful cultural programme is held spontaneously participated by the students of the University. They performed songs, standup comedy, dance, drama and many more. Metropolitan University also arranged a three days long book fair in the campus. Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shiba Prashad Sen auspicated the Fair on 24th March 2016. The Books published by Professor Abdul Aziz, Professor Nandalal Sharma, Professor Dr. M. Rabiul Hossain, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak, Miah Md. Asaduzzaman, Gazi Saiful Hasan also displayed in the fair.
