Metropolitan University, Sylhet observed International Mother Language Day and Martyrs Day with great enthusiasm and due respect. Metropolitan University authority placed wreaths on Central Martyrs Monument at mid night pay tribute to those who made supreme sacrifices on February 21 in 1952 to establish their mother tongue as the state language. Metropolitan University has taken the following steps to observe the Martyrs? Day and International Mother Language Day 2016 according to the following schedule: Sunday, 21st Feb 2016: 1. Early hours at 12:01am: Placing of floral wreath at Kendriya Shaheed Minar, Sylhet. 2. Morning at 6:01am: National Flag will be hoisted (half mast) at Metropolitan University Campus. Monday, 22nd Feb 2016: 1. At 12:30 pm: Publication of the Wall Magazine 2. At 1:00 pm: Discussion Meeting on the significance of the day Professor M. Habibur Rahman Library Hall The students, members of the faculty, officers and employees are requested to remain present to make the events successful. .
