Pahela Baishakh, Bengali New Year 1424
Metropolitan University celebrated the most fascinating public festival of Bengali?s life, ?Pahela Baishakh? the first day of the first month of Bengali calendar. Bengali Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore welcomed the year saying ?Eso he Baishakh? meaning step in Baishakh and then he said ?taposh nishwas baye mumurshure dao urae? meaning by your heated strong wind blow up the moribund. University began the day?s programme with a very colorful rally with spontaneous participation of the Teachers, Students, Office executives and staffs. Later on a cultural programme is held in the campus organised by the student of several department. Besides there were some Baishakhi Food stall placed by the students of the University. Overall the first day of Bengali calendar is observed with joy and happiness in the campus.
