Professor Dr. Mohammad Jahirul Hoque, Vice Chancellor of Metropolitan University expressed his pride in commemorating the literary genius of Abdul Gaffar Datta Chowdhury. Emphasizing Dutta Chowdhury’s significant contribution to Bangla literature, particularly in the realm of sonnets, he termed him as ‘the brilliant son of the soil.’
Professor Dr. Hoque underscored the university's commitment to preserving Datta Chowdhury’s legacy through seminars, memorial lectures, and dedicated memorials. The objective is to influence the intellectual landscape of both present and future generations with the profound insights derived from Datta Chowdhury’s work. In his view, inspiring future generations is imperative for the nation’s survival in the evolving global landscape.
During a recent courtesy visit, retired Additional Secretary Mr. Ali Mostafa Chowdhury, the eldest son of the renowned poet and sonnet writer Abdul Gaffar Datta Chowdhury, accompanied by his wife Professor Karabi Datta met with Vice Chancellor Dr. Mohammad Jahirul Hoque. On this occasion, Mr. Ali Mostafa Chowdhury, the poet's son, graciously presented his father’s significant works to the Central Library of Metropolitan University. Subsequently, the Vice Chancellor guided the guests on a tour of the university, informing them about ongoing efforts to organise seminars and memorial lectures that aim to enlighten the academic community about the poet’s literary prowess.
Metropolitan University Deputy Registrar Mihir Kanti Chowdhury was also present at the meeting.
