Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak Awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award
The Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of Metropolitan Uiversity, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak has been awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award (Translation) 2020. The Chairman Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury & Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Saleh Uddin congratulated him on being awarded this prestigious award. On Monday, the Director General of the Bangla Academy, Habibullah Siraji, announced the names of the recipients. Professor Dr.? Suresh Ranjan Basak will be awarded with a Certificate, a Crest and a cash prize money of BDT 300000/=. The date for the ceremony has not been announced yet by Bangla Academy. Reacting to the award, Suresh Ranjan Basak said, "It is an honor to receive an award from an organisation like Bangla Academy. It is also a kind of recognition. Although no writer writes for recognition or honor, he writes for pleasure. But everyone likes to get recognition or honor. It's like an additional acquisition. I have been studying literature for almost four decades. During this time, I have been translating the great works of world literature for the Bengali readers. ' Meanwhile, Suresh Ranjan Basak has been congratulated by the Metropolitan University family for being awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award. Introduced in 1960, the Bangla Academy Sahitya Puroshkar (Literary Award) is annually awarded to individuals for their contributions to Bangla literature in various categories.
