Shakespeare Day Observed
Department of English, Metropolitan University organised an event titled "Shakespeare Day" to observe the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death in Professor Habibur Rahman Library Hall on 26th May 2016. The programme was presided over by Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak the Dean of School of Humanities & Social Sciences. The Chairman, Board of Trustees Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Saleh Uddin, Pro Vice Chancellor Shiba Prasad Sen, Professor Emeritus Md. Abdul Aziz and Director (admin) Tarek Islam delivered valued speech Highlighting the interesting parts of Shakespeare?s life. As the part of the event there was an exciting cosplay where students wore costumes and accessories to represent a specific character from Shakespeare's plays Romeo, Juliet, Ophelia, and Lady Macbeth also a quiz contest arranged for the students on William Shakespeare?s life. Besides there was a film screening portraying some interesting facts about Shakespeare?s life and plays. At the end of the programme exiting prizes were handed over to the winners of cosplay and quiz contest and a grand rally was arranged. The programme was hosted by Anik Biswas (Senior Lecture Dept. of English).
