The Department of English, Metropolitan University celebrated World Poetry Day 2019 on Thursday 21st March with various arrangements at Professor Habibur Rahman Library Hall. The Head of the Department of English Mr. Anik Biswas presided over the programme and the Principal of the Sylhet Government Women's College Professor Hayatul Islam Akanjee was the Chief Guest. The Chairman Board of Trustees, Dr. Toufique Rahman Chowdhury; Pro Vice Chancellor, Professor Shiba Prasad Sen; Dean of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Suresh Ranjan Basak; Head of the Department of Economics, Professor Dr. SM Ali Akkas; Chairman of Sommilito Sanskritik Jote, Sylhet, Aminul Islam Liton were also present in the programme. The programme was held by in the joint supervision of Assistant Professor Snigdha Das and Lecturer Tasnuva Tabassum. The students took participation in poem recitation, chorus recitation, mime, singing and dances. Teachers, students, officials of the University enjoyed the event.
